COMFORT, UNDERSTANDING AND INFORMATION DURING A TIME OF DISASTER
Dr. Audrey L. Dickey, Los Angeles, CA
The following scriptures are meant to inform you as well as bring comfort (the truth is what really sets people free from distress and fear) as to why some disasters (sudden great misfortune) are taking place and being allowed in this season. (Most scripture is from the Amplified version and some from the King James and New International Versions of the Holy Bible).
We are currently living in a season that has been designated as a time of Harvest. What most people fail to realize is that even though harvest is a time of reaping the abundance, a time of refreshing and promises of God coming to pass for the good seeds that were planted by each individual, each family and each nation, the word harvest is also a figurative term for Judgment. Why? Because the harvest and judgment come together just as blessings and curses are together (Deuteronomy 28) we make the choice of which we will receive by the choices we have made in our past.
The same anointing that brings the harvest to you if you have planted good seed is the same anointing that will also bring judgment. Even though judgment comes to ultimately save the souls of many who would have otherwise been lost forever, if people choose not to examine and judge their own lives and repent (I Co 11:31-32 and I John 1:9), then Galatians 6:7-9 says, Be not deceived and misled; God is not mocked: God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside) for whatever a man (a person) sows, that and that only is what he (that person) will reap. Jesus said, I don’t judge you, the Words that I have spoken will judge you.
Know the Season which you were born to live in. It is no mistake that you are here for this appointed time. It may be rough at times, but trust in God and know that the appointed end is not yet, live to the fullest and enjoy life as you occupy and wait for His return.
Galatians 5:16-21
But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the Holy Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the craving and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).
For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.
But if you are guided (led) by the [Holy] Spirit, you are not subject to the law.
Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies), envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God (righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit while on this earth, Matthew 6:33).
Galatians 5:22-25
But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge]. (Continued on the next page)
And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature; a way of thinking that you inherited from Adam bent towards sin and lust) with its passions and appetites and desires.
If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]

God hears humble repentance.
I John 2: 20, 26-29
Summary of the scripture: The Holy Spirit will help you in this hour (this time or season) as long as you abide in Him. He will speak to you by giving you unctions in your spirit and in other ways as well. He will guide you to anointed preachers and teachers of the Word of God. He will aid you in everyway if you listen to His leading.
You should stay clear of seducing spirits (spirits on people) who draw you into unholy alliances (lying, stealing, anger with sin, bad attitudes, corrupt communication: foul language, saying words counter to the Word of God – murmuring, complaining, gossip, criticizing, doubt, etc.). Be careful for you will be in danger of grieving the Holy Spirit. Remember also that none of us our perfect, we all make mistakes, and when we do make mistakes (not determined sin, but mistakes), we should ask God for forgiveness and repent (turn away from the sin) and ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen us and continue to guide us into the right way of doing things (Matthew 6:33).
I Peter 4:12-19
Summary: In this life because there is good and evil people will suffer. You however, can make a choice to suffer for God’s sake (persecution not sickness or poverty) or suffer for the devil (which will include all kinds of suffering).

Summary: God will allow the wheat and tare (weed/darnel) to grow up together (children of the Kingdom of God and the children of the devil, the evil one). Once however it is time for harvest, time for God to bring His Word to pass of things He promised you, He will first separate out the wicked from the righteous by the angels and then destroy the wicked. Then He will bless the righteous (those who chose Him and are righteous in Him because of the Blood of Jesus and for no other reason) those who choose to obey His commandments and teachings with the help and leading of the Holy Spirit with a humble and repentant heart.

I John 1: 9-10
If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. Let us live and conduct ourselves honorably and becomingly as in the [open light of] day, not in reveling (carousing) and drunkenness, not in immorality and debauchery (sensuality and licentiousness), not in quarreling and jealously…
