AUDREY DICKEY MINISTRIES

Glory International Center

"A Center for God's Presence"

          When we pray in an unknown tongue (our spiritual language), we pray the "perfect prayer" that goes directly  into the throne room of God because "our spirit prays" by the Holy Spirit within us. Our spirit prayer is right on target, powerful and effective every time, I Corinthians 14:2; I Corinthians 14:14.

          I Corinthians 2:12-14 AMP says, “Now we have not received the spirit [that belongs to] the world, but the [Holy] Spirit Who is from God, [given to us] that we might realize and comprehend and appreciate the gifts [of divine favor and blessing so freely and lavishly] bestowed on us by God.  And we are setting these truths forth in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the [Holy] Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual truths with spiritual language [to those who possess the Holy Spirit].

          But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated.” It is the tongues of men and of angels… I Co. 13:1 NKJV.

          In Romans 11:29, note “the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” and are irrevocable. God gave to the church certain gifts to help His people while here on the earth and supernatural tongues (a language) is one of those gifts and if it is not for today then neither are the other gifts that were given to men by the Lord for the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints that they should do the work of ministering toward building up Christ's body.

          In I Corinthians 12:28 AMP it says, “God has appointed some in the church [for His own use]: first apostles (special messengers); second prophets (inspired preachers and expounders); third teachers; then wonder workers; then those with ability to heal the sick; helpers; administrators; [speakers in] different (unknown) tongues.”

          In addition, in Ephesians 4:11 it says, “And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers. These are people that are appointed by God into the fivefold ministry gifts for the perfecting of the Church, which is the Body of Christ, the One New Man in the Kingdom of God. Also, I Corinthians 12:4-11 list other gifts given by God to be used by His Saints as well.

          During Jesus’ ministry, He did not exercise the gift of speaking in an unknown tongue because no tongue was unknown to Him. The people did not speak in an unknown tongue either because they were not filled with the Holy Spirit at that time. However, speaking in tongues did come after Jesus died on the cross which redeemed mankind from eternal darkness and gave mankind the gift of eternal life as well as an abundant life while on earth if he or she so desired it.

          He rose from the grave on the third day, and then walked the earth for forty days and on one day alone He was seen by over five hundred witnesses, I Cor. 15:6.  Later He ascended into Heaven and sent back the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, to be with all those who would receive Jesus (Yeshua) as their Lord and Savior.

           It was not until the day of Pentecost people began speaking in an unknown tongue or language.  In Acts 2:1-3 says, “And when the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all assembled together in one place, when suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.  And there appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were separated and distributed and which settled on each one of them.”  On that day in the upper room, there were one hundred and twenty men and women, the Holy Spirit rested on each one and they spoke with the gift of tongues found in I Corinthians 12:10.

          Because they spoke in the language of men residing in Jerusalem - Jews, devout and God-fearing men from every county under heaven who were astonished and bewildered, because each one heard [the apostles] speaking in his own [particular] dialect and they were amazed because these people were Galileans, Acts 2:5-7.

          The tongues found in I Corinthians 14:2 are given today to all who receive Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) as their Lord and Savior and have received the Infilling of the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of them, Acts 2:1-4; I Cor. 2:4-5; Acts 1:5, 8; John 1:33.

          Furthermore, the gift of tongues (I Cor. 12:10) and other gifts that are being used today as appointed by God will remain until as stated in I Corinthians 13:10 which says, "... When the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away (become antiquated, void, and superseded)."

          All gifts given by God and what God has done let no man put asunder. What He has given, whatever door He has opened, no man can shut it or change it. Therefore, as we pray and ask Him to fill us with His Holy Spirit, then rest (trust) in Him and just receive all of what He has given, created, permitted and allowed for our good. FOUR WAYS TO PRAY IN THE SPIRIT:

God (Holy Spirit) prays through a Person;

A Person prays in the spirit to God;

Singing in the Holy Spirit in Tongues;

Building Yourself Up in the Holy Spirit by Praying in Tongues.

To receive additional information on each topic (click here).

SOME OF THE MANY BENEFITS ARE:

I am receiving divine wisdom, instructions, directions, strength, and revelation; therefore, I will receive manifestations. The Word also says, I "should pray [for the power] to interpret what I say," and this should also apply if one is praying in an open arena with other people present, I Corinthians 14:13.

I am praying the mind of God; praying the wonderful (strategies) works and thoughts of God.

I am praying the will of God, those things that have been freely given by God.

I am praying directly to God, I Corinthians 14:2, 16.

I am speaking mysteries - secret truths that can only be known by revelation and receiving understanding, I Cor. 14:2; (Secrets and mysteries are God's will, His plans and purposes).

I am building myself up in my spirit man because the Bible says He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, I Cor. 14:4. This would include building up your soul (mind, will and emotions) and your body especially your immune system.
