Genesis 3:14, 15 Old Testament Prophecy About the Last Days – End-Time
Genesis 3:14, 15
“So the Lord God said to the serpent: Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
Meriam-Webster’s Dictionary online defines serpent as follows:
1: archaic : (a) noxious creature that creeps, hisses, or stings (b) snake
2: devil
3: a treacherous person
Webster’s defines serpent in its oldest meaning as a creature that creeps, hisses and/or stings and as a second definition: devil.
In the Hebrew it is rendered נחש (na-chash) which is the word for snake or serpent.
In chapter 3:1 in the Hebrew the first word is והנחש (ve-ha-na-chash) which is transliterated as (and the snake/serpent).
My point in the above is to indicate that it was an actual snake that spoke to Eve just as the ass in Numbers 22:28-33 spoke to the prophet Balaam. What I want to point out is that satan entered his spirit into the snake which allowed the spirit of Satan to speak to the woman. The Bible tells us that the snake/serpent was the most cunning beast of the field which the Lord God had made.
When we come to verses 14 and 15 what we find is that God dealt two judgements on the snake/serpent. I discern that the first judgement was for the creature, the snake: “So the Lord God said to the serpent: Because you have done this you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.” The second was to the spirit of the snake which allowed Satan (devil) to enter in: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
Snakes to this day crawl because God cursed the snake/serpent to be confined to the ground and to be an enemy all the days of its life which is eternal.
To the spirit that entered the snake/serpent God not only put enmity between a woman and a snake but between her Seed, referring to the Messiah, and the seed of the Serpent (all the spirits of Satan). He said that the worst thing that Satan would be able to do would be to bruise His heel which would only be an injury and not a fatal blow. But the Seed of the woman (the Messiah) would bruise the head of the serpent which would be fatal.
The snake/serpent/devil gave his best attempt to destroy the Messiah, the Seed of the woman, at the cross. However, our Lord, Savior and God Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach) died, was buried, and resurrected to everlasting life which proved to only be, figuratively, a bruise. On the other hand, Satan’s final bruise will be to be cast into the Lake of Fire which will prove to be a final, fatal and eternal bruise at the Last Day of the End-Time, Revelation 20:10.
What we can say is that the beginning of the “Last Days” the End-Times begin with the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach).
