"A Center for God's Presence"
During ancient times, early first century, the “One New Man” spoken of by Apostle Paul, was the coming together of Torah-observant Jewish Believers in Yeshua with Gentiles who themselves were becoming well grounded in their Jewish past.
They were “no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief Cornerstone” Ephesians 2:19-20. They were “heirs together with Israel” Ephesians 3:6. Foreigners and aliens are those who are not descendants of the twelve sons of Jacob but will be considered “native-born Israelites” in line for an inheritance along with the Tribes of Israel. In whatever tribe a foreigner resides, there you are to give them their inheritance, declares the Sovereign Lord” Ezekiel 47:22-23.
Before this the Ephesian Believers were “separate from Christ [Messiah], excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world” Ephesians 2:12.
Paul constantly refers to both Jews and Gentiles in his letters as he works to establish the faith of “these former pagans” who were now Believers. Paul also reminds pagan citizens as he works to transform the unbelievers to Believers in the One True God of Israel and in their Messiah that the Gospel, the good news, was “first for the Jew, then to the Gentile” Romans 1:16; … “but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile” Romans 2:9-10. This was never to be an affront to any people group but that Salvation comes through the Jews and that it is to be preached to them first.
Even though Paul was sent as an Apostle of Christ (Messiah/Mashiach) to graft in and establish pagans in the family of faith Paul was in great sorrow because of Israel’s rejection of their King Romans 9:2.
When Salvation takes place in God’s eyes “there is no difference between Jew and Gentile” Romans 10:12. Those that receive, from either group, Jew or Gentile, now shared in the covenant promises of the Most High God, YHVH, in eternal life which was given as a gift through Salvation.
However, Apostle Paul mourned for the Jews because “theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the Law (instructions), the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.” Romans 9:4-5; and yet most rejected their Messiah.
In the book of Jeremiah 31:31-34 in the Tanakh – the Hebrew Scriptures talks about the New Covenant to come. “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people…”
The New Covenant was confirmed in I Corinthians 11:25-26 AMP when at Passover Jesus took the cup saying, “This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink [it], to call Me [affectionately] to remembrance. ”For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the Lord’s death until He comes [again].” Also see Luke 22:20.
So you see, even from the ancient times to the present as the Ephesians were so far away they to were “brought near through the blood of [Messiah],” Jesus Christ, Ephesians 2:13. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me” John 14:6.
The former Gentiles now the One New Man do not replace the Jewish people but they become a member of their family, a citizen of their land and partaker of their promises. One who was once a foreigner to the covenants of the promises that were theirs, now share together with those promises in the new covenant ratified in blood by the Messiah Yeshua (Hebrew translation of the Greek name Jesus which means Salvation; Savior).
Both Jew and Gentile in Messiah saved from their sins that were washed away by the blood He shed so that all may have eternal life and while on earth have life in the abundance, have it to the full as they share in all the promises that the Kingdom of God has to offer, John 10:28, 10; Ephesians 4:22-25.
